Swimming

How about a swim in one of the many mountain lakes on a hot summer day?

Many of you have been dreaming of taking a swim in a crystal clear mountain lake. Let’s just say; there are a lot of those lakes here! Some of the lakes are remote and far away from people, while other places have more recreational type areas where you can enjoy the long nights and afternoon sunshine.

In the town of Edland the Kjela river runs slow, and the temperature for swimming in the river mouth to lake Tveitevatnet is about as good as it gets at this elevation level.
To get to this spot, you will take road E-134 to Edland and follow it east of the town until you see a sign that says “Haukeli Skianlegg”. Turn in there, drive over the bridge and take a left. The parking and recreational area is on the left side of the small ski area.

If you are really hardcore, you can try snow bathing in the winter at Haukeliseter Fjellstue and combine it with the Villmarksspa .
